Once we have made an agreement, you can make money as detailed in the table to the right. Unless otherwise advised, there is a $300 monthly cap per writer. All work would be done as an independent contractor.
To enable this, we would invite you to participate in some of our blogs, via blogger.com. Once you have posted an article to one of these blogs you simply send us an e-mail with a link to the content. We'll copy and paste the text into MS Word, use Word's word count tool to count the words, and then pay for the project accordingly. Payments will be made on or around the first Wednesday of the month.
You can choose among several of our blogs and write whatever you want relevant to the blog's subject. The current list of topics includes:
Tier One
- Babies - having, raising, caring for, considerations, etc.
- Buying Guides - helpful buying guides for products or services
- Cars - anything related to cars
- Fashion - thoughts, observations, opinions, or news items related to fashion
- Gardening - tips, hints, how-to, etc.
- Golf - commentary and tips
- Hobbies - model railroading, model rocketry, astronomy, collecting, etc.
- Movie Reviews - review any movie, old or new
- NASCAR - news, rumors, opinions, etc. related to this sport
- Travel Guides - tips or guides for travel to destinations or generally
Tier Two* - Only One Per Month Per Blog
- Book Reviews - reviews of books you have read
- Food - anything other than recipes related to the enjoyment of food
- Furniture & Home Decor
- Power Tools - anything related to power tools or home improvement
- Sports Commentary - observations and/or opinions on anything related to sports
- TV Shows - reviews, thoughts, or general opinions on TV shows, old or new
* Note that for Tier Two blogs, we will only pay for one article per month per blog per writer. Thus, you can post one article each to 3 of these tier two sites, 5 of them, or all of them, and you will be paid for all, but not for any postings in excess of one for any particular blog. For Tier One blogs, post as many articles as you want for any blogs, only subject to your monthly cap.
You can write whatever you want, as long as it is relevant. It does not need to be anything too technical. We only ask that it be gramatically correct, sensible, unique, of reasonably good quality, text compliant (see FAQ "I get strange text characters"), and relevant to the blog topic. For example, we are not looking for "Why I Love To Travel", but we are looking for "Getting The Most Out of A Trip To Disney World". The first is just jibberish, which we are not looking for, while the second actually is content, regardless if it pales in comparison to the comprehensiveness of a Fodor's guide.
For example, "Pfish Posters Have Become Highly Collectible Items" would be relevant to posters. "Posters Increase At Blogger", however, would not, as it is referring to the wrong type of posters. "Why I Love Diamonds" is relevant to jewelry, obviously likely not highly technical, and fine by us. Again, we only ask that articles be gramatically correct, reasonably sensible, unique, and relevant to the blog topic.
Interested? Send us an e-mail expressing your interest. We'll be in touch with you shortly thereafter.
FAQ:
Can I identify myself as the author? By all means, feel free to identify yourself as the author. It is up to you.
Can I link to my article? Yes. We hope you are proud enough of your article that you want to link to it.
I get strange characters when I post articles. How do I avoid this? Most likely this is caused when MS Word or some other word processing program you are using converts text characters into more stylish equivalents. One of the most common of these is the conversion of quotes to curly quotes. In recent versions of word, you can stop this from happening by going to "Tools", "Auto-Correct Options", "AutoFormat As You Type" and then de-selecting "Replace straight quotes with smart quotes". Also, using a simpler text editing program, such as TextPad, can more effectively help avoid these problems. NOTE: We reserve the right to not compensate for articles with these types of text errors. We'll let it go once or twice, and communicate with you via e-mail to resolve the situation. We are reasonable. Thereafter, however, you are expected to submit these properly. Related to this, please do not change the font of your article.
Are there keyword count requirements or keywords a writer should try to concentrate on? There are no keyword requirements. The article simply needs to be relevant to the blog subject.
Can I link to other websites? Please refrain from linking to other websites. You can mention the url in parentheses, following a site name. For example, if you were referring to Yahoo (www.yahoo.com), you could put the url in parentheses, as I just did.
How do I get paid? Payments for articles in a given month are made on the first Wednesday of the following month by check or PayPal. If this happens to be a holiday, payments will be made the first business day thereafter.
I've completed and signed the form you e-mailed me. Now what happens? Shortly you should receive invitations to the blogs you specified an interest in writing for. Simply accept the invitation, then start posting to these blogs you have been invited to.
How do I let you know that I have posted a blog? Send an e-mail to freelancewriters@adaptinc.com with details to assist us in identifying which blog you are referring to such as the title of the blog and which blog it is in.
Who is Adapt? See our home page for a brief explanation of who Adapt, Inc. is. The relevant answer is that we have been in business since 1998 and we pay our bills!
What sites will I be writing for? It depends on which blog you are writing for. Each blog subject is associated with a different site.
What should I write about? Write about whatever comes to mind relevant to the blog subject.
Will additional blog subjects be added? Over time, additional blog subjects will likely be added. Bookmark this page to check back later and see if any new subjects that interest you have been added to the list.
Is there a weekly cap on how much I may write? No. The only limit is a monthly limit, which is mentioned above, unless you have been otherwise advised. As our relationship progresses, or for other reasons, we may change this at any time.
